School Plan for Continuous Growth 2020-2023 (year 2)

School Mission: Fostering a Christ-centered learning community through collaboration, creativity, innovation and love..
School Vision: To inspire in our students a love of learning by creating a community that works and celebrates together. In our faith-filled environment, we will guide our students to become engaged and ethical learners and self aware global citizens. Our students will be provided with the tools to develop their gifts in a safe and positive environment in order to become the leaders of tomorrow.
School Charism: Sharing the Fruits of the Spirit through acts of mercy and justice.

Priority: Growing in Faith
Our students and staff will learn and live the Word of God through worship, witness, and service.
Key Strategies:
F.1 Empower students and staff to express and share their gifts from God and explore the school’s charism and its importance.
F.5 Engage families, parishes, and Catholic organizations to provide opportunities for growing in faith.
Actions we will take
Our mission invites our students into a Christ-centered learning community where collaboration, creativity and love are at the heart of all we do. Our students will be provided with the opportunities to share their gifts through a variety of school experiences. These experiences may arise through social justice activities, fine arts opportunities, athletics, flex options, and environmental stewardship. All these experiences will allow for the students to engage in a leadership role. As opportunities arise, students' gifts and talents will be shared with the broader community (i.e. Celebration of the Arts, Talent Show, Concerts). Families will be invited to join in our assemblies which will include celebrating the Sacraments students have received. Families will also be invited to share in our social justice projects, mass at the parish, and grade level led celebrations/liturgies at the school. We will continue to maintain our relationship with Father Dean at St. John the Evangelist Parish as he leads us in mass and visits our school and classrooms. Our students lived faith will be evident as they lead us in morning prayer over announcements and model our charism by sharing the Fruits of the Spirit through acts of mercy and justice.
Performance Measures (Domain - Local and Societal Context):
Local measures are under development for this priority. Our performance in this area will also be measured using the:
  • Division Assurance Survey (Catholicity items).
  • -Parent participation
  • -List of events that highlight opportunities of students sharing their gifts
  • -List of social justice activities
  • -Father Dean and Sophie will celebrate mass with our students at least 4 times in a year
  • -Each class will contribute student prayers for one month and host a mass, liturgy, or celebration
  • -Each class will host an assembly highlighting our division theme, incorporating a Gospel teaching and our theme book
Priority: Student Success
Through a holistic approach, students will develop to their fullest potential through multiple pathways.
Key Strategies:
S.2 Implement teaching and assessment practices to deepen students’ understanding and to increase ability to target teaching and improve learning.
S.3 Continue to create opportunities for students to engage in hands on learning experiences that transition to career pathways.
Actions we will take
As we return from an unprecedented time of interrupted learning it will be more important than ever to use assessment to determine next steps for student learning. As provided by our Division, staff will receive training in the use of the following common assessments: Phonemic Awareness Assessment, 5 Pillars of Literacy Reading Assessment) and M.A.S.T (math assessment). These assessments will be foundational to identifying targeted goals for instruction and determining student success. Students will also be guided in determining individual goals to help with planning their own growth. By using the Collaborative Response Model teachers will work together to identify common standards for all students across all grades and areas for growth. As a team we will support each other in building our capacity to target instruction to improve learning. We will work at broadening the learning opportunities for our students by including hands on learning experiences through STEAM based projects, flex options, access to a Makerspace (math, science, and technology) and the Atelier (arts space). Working collaboratively with parents and engaging in dialogue in response to students' needs we continue to ensure student success.

Priority: An Excellent Place to Work and Learn
We will provide an optimal learning and working environment that fosters a culture of faith, trust, unity, inclusivity, confidence, respect, value and appreciation for one another.

E.6 Continue to create an excellent Catholic educational working environment through the provision of faith formation, health, and wellness opportunities and supports for all staff.
Actions we will take
This year more than ever it will be important to engage in wellness opportunities (prayer, relationship connections, outdoor/indoor play and gratitude reflections) with staff in response to and follow up from the intensity of Covid restrictions. For our students to have a safe and caring environment it is important to ensure our staff are well. To support both staff and students, prayer and the PATHS program and messaging will be part of our daily routine. Capitalizing on staff and student strengths will help us to maintain the fortitude required to maintain an outlook of a hopeful future. As a school community we will focus on what gives us hope and ensure that all who encounter our school know that they are accepted, loved, and called by God. As the staff in our school are guided by the Teaching Quality Standard and the Leadership Quality Standard we will strive to be in alignment with these expectations through excellent professional practises, involvement in ongoing professional development and the use of the Collaborative Response Model. As we continue to embrace our diverse community teachers will explore the tipi teachings to continue to grow our FNMI foundational knowledge.

Actions we will take
At the outset of every year, we focus our attention on building new relationships with students and families as we grow our school community. This year we will be welcoming our pre-kindergarten students in 100 Voices. Human resources are at the core of programming provided and along with exceptional teachers, educational assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Therapists and Consultants make up our team of service providers. Our Division has also created a standard inventory of resources and provisions to help schools access all that we need to provide quality programming in our school. Our School Council helps by providing funds for additional technology as needed and funds to help with completing our new playground. As we continue to nurture our partnership with our parents, we will work diligently to grow our enrollment. To meet the needs of all our students we will complete the setup of our sensory room and prayer space. As we re-establish our connections with students, families, and staff we look forward to hosting events that involve the broader community. We will continue to connect with our families through our monthly newsletters, SWIFT messaging reminders and our updated website.
